The Granada coastline has been awarded a total of 14 Blue Flags this summer, which will fly on 13 beaches and at the prestigious Marina del Este sports port. This figure represents an increase compared on the previous year, with the inclusion of the Cambriles beach, in the municipalities of Lújar and Gualchos-Castell de Ferro.

The Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Affairs (ADEAC), responsible for granting these distinctions, has conducted a thorough analysis, confirming the quality and environmental commitment of the beaches of the Costa Tropical. Among the award-winning beaches are La Herradura, Marina del Este, Puerta del Mar, San Cristóbal, and Velilla in Almuñécar; Sotillo-Castell in Gualchos; Cambriles in Lújar and Gualchos-Castell de Ferro; Calahonda, Playa Granada, and Carchuna in Motril; La Guardia in Salobreña; Del Cañón-La Pelá (Azucenas) in Torrenueva-Costa Motril; and Torrenueva Costa.

This distinction not only certifies the quality of the beaches but also contributes to improving the tourism prospects for the entire province of Granada. With the arrival of the spring and summer season, a significant tourist influx is expected in all regions, according to insustry sources.

The Tourism Board of Almuñécar-La Herradura will carry out nearly a dozen promotional activities over the coming months, both nationally and in Oslo, Amsterdam, and Munich, while The Tourism Board of the Provincial Council is currently Dubai participating in the most important tourism fair in the Middle East, The Arabian Travel Market. Granada is on the verge of reaching pre-pandemic tourism figures. In March, the last month with available data, the province recovered 95 percent of domestic tourism and 90 percent of international tourism.

The Costa Tropical positions itself as a reference destination for lovers of sun and beach tourism. Obtaining the Blue Flags contributes further to its attractiveness.
