Hiking in Maro Cerro Gordo

We left the town of Maro heading towards the Granada coast on the N-340 road. Upon reaching kilometer 302, we turned right at the roundabout and parked in a spacious parking area. We began walking along the “Sendero Bajada al Cañuelo,” observing flora and points of interest such as the Torre del Pino and La Caleta.

We descended, passing by Peñón del Fraile and Caleta de la Risa. We reached Cañuelo Beach and then ascended a steep path, not recommended for everyone.

From Cerro de la Caleta, we enjoyed panoramic views of Cañuelo Beach and Cala de las Doncellas below us. We passed by old Civil Guard barracks and rugged areas, reaching the Cantarriján ravine, the pine forest, and its dry stream. Ultimately, we reached the nudist beach of Cantarriján.

We continued on the N-340, stopping at viewpoints like the Maro-Cerro Gordo viewpoint to enjoy panoramic vistas. We arrived at the Cerro Gordo viewpoint and then to the Cerro Gordo Tower, enjoying views of La Herradura Bay.

Finally, we returned along the N-340 to reach our vehicle.
