Rozalén is one of the leading voices in the new singer-songwriter genre. With five albums released, she has captivated both audiences and critics alike. She has received numerous accolades, including three Gold Records, three Platinum Records, a Goya Award, the 2021 National Award for Current Music, three Latin Grammy nominations, and the Professional Merit Plaque of Castilla-La Mancha.
Rozalén is also one of the most successful live performers, drawing thousands of fans to each of her concerts. In addition, she is a significant social activist, using her music to advocate for the rights of minorities and underprivileged communities. On stage, she is always accompanied by Beatriz Romero, a sign language interpreter, ensuring her shows are inclusive and accessible to everyone.
In September 2017, Rozalén released her third album, ‘Cuando el río suena…,’ which featured the hit song ‘Girasoles’ and reached #1 on the Spanish sales chart. This album, now certified Platinum, stayed in the Top 5 of the Spanish sales chart for over a year. In 2019, she toured Spain, Latin America, and Europe, promoting this acclaimed work, which also includes the feminist anthem ‘La Puerta Violeta.’ This album earned her two Latin Grammy nominations: ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Song of the Year.’
Three years later, in October 2020, she released ‘El árbol y el bosque,’ her fourth studio album, featuring songs like ‘Este Tren,’ ‘Y Busqué,’ and ‘Aves Enjauladas,’ the latter becoming an anthem during the pandemic. Rozalén’s album debuted at number 1 on the official Spanish sales chart. With ‘Que no, que no,’ included in the soundtrack of ‘La Boda de Rosa,’ she won her first Goya Award for ‘Best Original Song’ in 2021 and received another Latin Grammy nomination for ‘Best Singer-Songwriter Album.’ From May 2021, Rozalén toured Spain and abroad to present this work. That same year, she received the 2021 National Award for Current Music for “her sensitivity and commitment” and the “artistic quality of her work as a composer and performer.”
In 2022, celebrating the tenth anniversary of her career, Rozalén released ‘Matriz,’ an album where she masterfully recorded a collection of songs produced by Ismael Guijarro that pay homage to Spain’s folklore and traditional music. This album offered a geographical—and emotional—journey across the peninsula through pieces that are part of our collective memory and identity, along with new compositions inspired by the popular songbook.
Currently, Rozalén is composing and recording new music to be released throughout 2024. The first preview of this new phase is ‘Lo tengo claro,’ which was released on November 24, 2023. This is a joyful, vibrant song about love with a colorful rhythm and melody inspired by Colombian champeta, heralding the great compositions from the artist that are yet to come in the coming months.
